United Renewable Energy (URE), a 20.5 MW wood-fired biomass plant in Akita Prefecture, began commercial operation on July 1, 2016. The plant will produce annual electricity equal to approximately 38,000 households. The electricity will be sold through the 20 year feed-in-tariff system.
On July 15, URE held a ceremony to celebrate the completion of construction.
