竹を主燃料とするバイオマス・エネルギー事業の可能性
フォレストエナジーとCortus Energy AB（スウェーデン）は、木質資源のガス化によるエネルギー事業において、燃料を多様化する試みの一つとして、竹の検討を進めています。竹をガス化する場合、低い灰溶融温度を克服することが必要になります。Cortus Energyのガス化技術WoodRoll®の場合、1,100℃の雰囲気で水性ガス化反応が進行します。
この度、熱重量分析（TGA）において、竹に少量の天然添加剤（非公開）を加えることで、1,100℃でのガス化試験をクリアしました。事業全体の経済性を損なわないよう、日本で容易に入手可能かつ低コストである天然添加剤を使用します。準備が整い次第、スウェーデンにあるデモ・プラントで竹を使った連続運転試験を行います。尚、樹皮（バーク）は既に検証済みであり、WoodRoll®を使ったガス化プラントでは樹皮を主燃料に運営することができます。
前提条件
- 燃料：孟宗竹のチップ（九州産）
- 設備：Cotus Energyの2,000kWelのガス化熱電併給設備（WoodRoll®）
- 分析：熱重量分析（TGA）。材料の物理的および化学的性質の変化を熱的に分析する方法
