Cortus Energyと業務提携について基本合意

フォレストエナジー株式会社とCortus Energy AB(スウェーデン)は、日本におけるバイオマス発電事業における業務提携について基本合意契約を締結しました。フォレストエナジーが開発・運営する2MW未満の木質バイオマス発電所において、Cortus Energyが特許を保有するガス化技術WoodRoll®を活用することを目的としています。

再生可能エネルギーの固定価格買取制度(FIT)が導入されてから、数多くの木質バイオマス発電所が作られています。しかしながら、多くのバイオマス発電所は規模としては5MW以上の大型のものを中心に普及しています。現在のFIT制度を前提にした場合、技術としてボイラーを使ったバイオマス発電所は5MW以上でないと採算が合わないからです。5MWの場合、年間約7万トンの木材を使うことになることから、実態としては森林賦存量が多い地域を中心にバイオマス発電所が普及しております。

フォレストエナジーは木質バイオマス発電所を活用して、 地域で未利用になっている木質資源に適切な価値をつけ地産地消し、 地域内で循環する資金の量とスピードが増加することで、 地域の活性化=地方創生につなげることを目指しております。森林賦存量が少ない地域においても木質バイオマス発電所を作ることを目指し、リサーチを重ねてきた結果、日本ではCortus EnergyのWoodRoll®が最適な技術という結論になりました。

  1. 発電効率は約30%。5MWクラスと同等の効率性
  2. 燃料は日本で簡単に入手できるウッドチップ
  3. 2MWの発電に対して、木材の年間使用量は約2万トン
  4. ゼロ・タール

また、WoodRoll®を使った場合、生成ガスの約60%は水素と高い水準に達している。この場合、改質器を使うことなく燃料電池との組み合わせができるので、追加の設備投資を抑えて再エネ由来の水素供給が可能となります。今後、水素が社会に普及するにつれ、発電事業だけでなく水素事業にも転用できることになります。

Today, Forest Energy and Cortus Energy (Sweden) have signed a preliminary agreement on joint projects targeting Japanese 2MWel wood-fired biomass market.

This market has great growth potential in Japan, however requires high level of efficiency. By using Cortus Energy’s WoodRoll technology and Forest Energy’s expertise in operating wood-fired biomass plants, we bring competitive solution to the market. We also see great opportunity in producing green hydrogen, as syngas produced in WoodRoll is hydrogen rich (approximately 60%)

In Japan, unique category for wood-fired biomass plant under the size of 2MWel was introduced in April 2015, feed-in tariff rate at 40 yen /kWh. For wood-fired biomass plant above the size of 2MWel, the rate is 32 yen /kWh. For both category, feed-in tariff is for 20 years. Today, there is significant number of wood-fired biomass over the size of 5MWel in commercial operation, but very few under the size of 2MWel.
